The sheet metal these are made form is between 16 and 18 B&S gauge for those who recognize this system. Nice and cleanly made. The supplied screws are Philips head - if you are reenactor you can still get #6 slotted countersunk head screws from blacksmith's suppliers in steel or brass ones from some online woodworking stores - or use cut nails with a rose head and clench them over inside - you can use the supplied screws for temporary fitting then when ready take them out, drill right through the wood and put in the nails and clench them over inside
