This steel umbo / shield boss can be attached to any board or board-like item that you can cut into the shape of a shield.

Plywood is the easiest and most common material to complete your shield but you can also use materials like foam, plastic, or even cardboard to make a great prop or softer/safer shield for younger children.

Important Notes:

-Shield boss measures 6" outside diameter, 4.5" inside diameter and 2" in depth. This is large enough to accommodate an average sized adult hand. Looks great on small to full sized shields but best suited to smaller shields or bucklers.

-The edges are not sharp.

-Steel used for boss is about 1mm thick. Not made to stand up to full force strikes from rattan or similar.

Right size

Shield boss was the perfect size for my kid's hand. It was about 5.5" across. I put it on a 19" round shield.
